Frequently Asked Questions
Does it change image quality?▾
No, for JPEG and PNG: the metadata blocks are cut out of the file and the image data is left untouched. Rotated JPEGs (EXIF orientation) and other formats are re-drawn through canvas (JPEG at 95% quality, others as PNG), which can change quality slightly.
Which metadata is removed?▾
All EXIF data is removed including GPS coordinates, camera model, lens info, timestamps and software tags, plus XMP, IPTC and comments (JPEG) or text/eXIf/time chunks (PNG). The colour profile is kept so colours stay the same.
